About the event
Join us for a true 3-day expedition into Knoydart one of the wildest and most remote places in the UK. Accessible only by boat or on foot, Knoydart offers big terrain, big days, and a rare chance to fully disconnect from everyday life. Expect crisp air, rich autumn colours across the hills, quieter trails, and that unmistakable feeling of being deep in the wilderness as the season begins to turn.
Over three days, we’ll travel through remote glens, rugged mountain terrain, and dramatic coastal landscapes. Weather and conditions permitting, the aim is to summit Knoydart’s three main peaks: Ladhar Bheinn, Luinne Bheinn, and Meall Buidhe, a challenging and deeply rewarding journey that showcases the very best of this wild and remote peninsula.
We’ll be fully immersed in expedition life, camping for two nights and carrying what we need as we move through the landscape. Evenings are for pitching camp, refuelling, sharing stories, and enjoying the quiet satisfaction that only comes after full days spent outdoors.
The expedition finishes in fitting Knoydart style, with a celebratory stop at the place every great hike ends... the pub! We will drop into The Old Forge, widely known as the UK’s most remote pub, before catching the ferry back to Mallaig.

Is this trip for you?
This expedition is best suited to those who are comfortable with long, demanding days in the hills and excited by the idea of a true wilderness experience (yay feral life).
This trip is a good fit if you:
Have previous hillwalking or mountain experience
Are comfortable carrying a loaded rucksack for multiple days
Can manage 6 - 8+ hour days on rough, uneven terrain
Are happy camping in changeable October weather
Enjoy challenge, uncertainty, and adapting plans to conditions
You don’t need to be an elite athlete, but you should be able to sustain long hiking days carrying large backpacks, be resilient, and open-minded. Knoydart rewards effort, teamwork, and a positive attitude far more than speed so if you’re looking for a trip that pushes you physically and mentally, strips life back to the essentials, and leaves you feeling strong, capable, and quietly proud by the end, this could be exactly what you’re after!
