GLENCOE HIKING WEEKEND

Join us for a true Scottish mountain weekend in the heart of Glencoe, based at one of the most legendary mountain huts in the UK. This is a no-frills, deeply rewarding mountain weekend that you’ll talk about long after it’s over!

This trip is all about jaw dropping mountains, dramatic scenery, and shared adventure, set in the famous and beautiful landscape of Glencoe. Expect challenging but achievable days, unforgettable views, and the unique experience of staying overnight at the iconic Lagangarbh Hut.

What's not included?

• Travel to and from the accommodation (see below)

• Meals and personal equipment - The hut has a full kitchen and shelves & fridges for food storage.

• Bedding. The hut is a traditional, and still in use mountaineering hut which means you have to bring a sleeping bag and may be sharing a room (with just two large bunks) with other members of the mountaineering councils & hut association. It's a truly authentic mountain experience - don't worry it does have toilets and a shower too!

• Travel and personal insurance (highly recommended)

Where we'll stay:

There aren't many more iconic mountaineering huts than the Lagangarbh hut sitting nestled at the base of Buachaille Etive Mor. The 'wee white house of Glencoe' is a fully functioning traditional mountaineering hut and our home for the weekend. As this is a fully operating mountaineering hut expect to be sleeping in your sleeping bag in shared rooms and embracing a classic mountain weekend of sharing stories and making new friends.

Getting there:

The Lagangarbh hut sits directly off the A82 (w3w:///solo.louder.feeds) and is accessible by car or bus from either Glasgow of Fort William. Pick ups can be organised from the closest bus stops at the Kingshouse hotel/Glencoe Ski Centre and trains run regularly to Fort William.

Itinerary

Friday: Arrive from 1700, settle in and get to know your new friends over some games and drinks. Before heading to bed we will discuss the plan for the next day and run through what you need to bring with you.

Saturday:

After breakfast (self catered) we will head off by foot straight from the hut to summit perhaps one of the most iconic munros, Buachaille Etive Mor. We will be out for the majority of the day so be sure to take a packed lunch and snacks. In the evening we will head to the Clachaig Inn for a well-earned drink. This is a legendary pub in GlenCoe and often has live music too. There is also the option to get yourself some food here if you’d prefer this than eating in the hut (additional cost).

Sunday: Once again we will be heading out into the hills to take on another beautiful route and learning about the history and landscape of the area along the way. We may take on the mighty three sisters of Glencoe or Etive Mor's sister peaks Buachaille Etive Berg. We will aim to return to hut by around 1600, pack up, and head home.
