About the event
Dreaming of spending a night under the stars but not sure where to start? Our Introduction to Wild Camping weekend is designed to give you the confidence, knowledge, and experience to head out on your own adventures safely, responsibly, and with a smile on your face.
Across the weekend, you’ll learn the essentials of wild camping and camping in general, from choosing and setting up your tent, cooking outdoors, and packing efficiently, to finding the perfect camp spot and leaving no trace. You’ll get hands-on experience with kit, route planning, and the realities of life outdoors (yes, even the midges and the morning brew)!
We’ll spend our first night at a campsite in the Lake District, getting familiar with gear and camping setups before venturing into the hills for a group wild camp on night two, a magical experience and a rite of passage for any outdoor enthusiast.
Throughout, you’ll be guided by an experienced instructor, enjoy two days of beautiful guided hiking, and have plenty of time to ask questions, learn, and connect with other like-minded women.

Itinerary
Friday: Arrive from 1600 at the campsite and we will set up our tents, make some dinner and discuss some basic camping etiquette before relaxing and having some dinner.
Saturday: We will have our breakfast (there is also the opportunity to have this in a cafe by the campsite before we head out on our hike) and then pack up our backpacks ready to head out for our planned wild camping location Haystacks.
We will aim to hike up one of the best Wainwrights in the Lake District called Haystacks* and find a great spot for an evening wild camp. The hike is suitable for beginners and we will be taking it at a nice and relaxed pace after all we have nowhere to be! We will discuss along the way how to find wild camping spots, the laws regarding camping and generally have a great time as a group finding a perfect camp spot before setting up camp in the late afternoon, having dinner and spending a night under the stars.
Duration: 6 hours // Distance: ~ 8km // Elevation: ~ 900m
Sunday: We will wake up to catch the sunrise and enjoy a breakfast on the mountain before packing up our gear and heading back down to our cars. Dependant on how everyone is feeling we may summit a second wainwright on our route down.
Duration: 5 hours // Distance: ~ 8km // Elevation: ~ 300m
*Our route could change dependant on the weather and group.
